A quick end to global warming.

Global warming has become what the hole in the ozone layer once was in that it is the environmental issue of the moment. It’s the thing we hear about all the time, the issue news organizations focus on, the next great calamity facing us as a species as told by the doom-sayers.

I can’t make sense of it really because as a human being, my life is a blip when measured against the timeline of the planet. Is it warmer now than when I was a kid? Are winters milder? Is the weather more volatile? Maybe, maybe not. Thing is in the scope of the planet’s life it’s hard for me to know whether or not it’s because of something we’re doing or if it just is the normal course of events.

The mere statement above will cause some people to go apoplectic but, I generally want to get all the information I can before making a decision about anything and as far as climate science goes we still have an incredible amount to learn. Something in the histrionics of one side of the argument or another is something I find somewhat off-putting.

The curious thing about the two issues (Global Warming vs. Ozone Depletion) is how they have contrary affects on climate.

Then again, if you are worried about Global Warming, if you really are lying awake at night wondering when the end will come, let me possibly reassure you that Mother Nature could take care of the issue of Global Warming so quickly you would be amazed. Not only that, you might find yourself very unhappy if she did.

Were there to be a volcanic eruption on the scale of Karkatoa or Mount Tambora we might find ourselves in another Year Without a Summer and the prospect of snow in June is an unwelcome one to say the least but, it has happened and will most likely happen again at some point in the future.
